How it works on a cage

One sconce per post. The whole cage comes alive.

Each sconce mounts on a vertical post of the screen enclosure and throws a crisp cone of light straight up the frame and a matching cone straight down onto the deck. Every post becomes a soft column of light instead of a dark bar against the night.

Spaced evenly around the cage, there are no dark corners and no glare in your eyes. It reads balanced and warm from a chair inside the lanai and from across the yard, and the pool picks up the reflections.

Every cage is different. Post count, spacing, roof height, screen color, and what you want to see from inside all change the design, so we plan it post by post at the walkthrough. The look, the tier, and the fixture count are chosen to fit your cage and the way you use it, not pulled from a package.

The fixture

Choose your look

Three ways the same fixture can light

Same brass sconce, your choice of top. One look on the whole cage, or a mix. Here is how each one reads at night.

Up and down sconce with open lenses
Open lens

Unidirectional

The standard look. An open lens top and bottom throws a crisp, focused beam straight up the screen and down to the deck. The most defined and dramatic.

Up and down sconce with short frosted Lanai Tube tops
Short frosted tube

Lanai Tube

A short frosted tube on each end softens the beam into a warm glow while still washing light up and down. A clean middle ground between a beam and a full glow.

Up and down sconce with tall frosted Glow Tube tops
Full frosted tube

Glow Tube

A taller frosted tube top and bottom glows like a soft column of light. The largest and softest look, easy on the eyes from anywhere in the lanai.

Good, better, best

Same brass fixture. Three ways to light it.

Every tier uses the same solid brass sconce and the same install. The difference is the light inside the fixture and how you control it. The design itself is built for your cage.

Good

Warm White

Soft, timeless, set and forget

  • Warm white LED lamps, 2700K, up and down every post
  • Comes on at dusk on the transformer's timer
  • Dimmable to the level you like
  • No app and nothing to manage

The classic lanai look. Never goes out of style.

Better

Color with Remote

Any color, from a handheld remote

  • Color-changing LED lamps up and down every post
  • Warm white on a normal night, any color for game day or the holidays
  • Dim and switch modes from the remote
  • No app, no Wi-Fi, and nothing to pair with your phone

Color without a hub or a subscription.

The fixture is lamp-ready, so you can start with Warm White and move up later by changing the lamps. The brass stays on the posts. Pool cage lighting is quoted per post; the walkthrough sets the post count, the look, and the tier.

Frequently asked

Pool cage lighting questions we hear a lot.

Does the sconce mount to my screen cage posts?

Yes. The fixture ships with a 2 inch bracket made for lanai and pool cage posts. It fastens to the aluminum upright. Nothing is attached to the screen mesh and nothing is drilled into the pool deck.

Do I need a sconce on every post?

Most cages look best with one sconce per post, so the rhythm of light stays even all the way around the pool. On very large cages, or where posts sit close together, every other post can work. We settle the count together at the walkthrough.

Where does the power come from?

The system is low voltage. A weatherproof stainless steel transformer plugs into an existing outdoor outlet and steps household power down to 12 volts. The transformer is sized to your post count and comes on at dusk on its own.

Will I see the wiring?

All wiring is concealed and weather sealed. The lead runs along the cage frame, and the connections are sealed against Florida moisture.

Can I start with warm white and add color later?

Yes. The fixture is lamp-ready, so the same brass sconce takes warm white, color with remote, or smart color lamps. Moving up a tier later is a lamp change, plus the Hue Bridge and app setup for Smart Color. The fixtures stay on the posts.

How long does the install take?

Most cages are done in a single day. Very large cages with 20 or more posts can take two. You get a clear timeline in the quote.

Do I need a permit for pool cage lighting?

Not for low-voltage residential lighting in the areas we serve. The system runs through a transformer, so it is well below what would trigger permit requirements. You do not need to do anything with the city.

What does pool cage lighting cost?

Pool cage lighting is quoted per post. The walkthrough sets the post count, the look, and the tier, and the written quote comes back within one business day. Text a daytime photo of your cage or request a walkthrough on this page to start.

What happens if a light fails?

The brass fixture carries the manufacturer's lifetime warranty, Smart Color lamps carry a 3 year Philips Hue warranty, and LogiBuilt warrants the installation workmanship for one year. If something acts up, one call gets the same team back out.
